NEW KENT COUNTY, Va. — Two people have died after a crash in New Kent County on Friday morning, Virginia State Police (VSP) said.
Police responded to a single-vehicle crash on I-64 at the 206-mile marker shortly before 11:30 a.m. When troopers arrived, they found that a semi-truck hit a tree and then caught on fire.
Following an investigation, police said the truck blew a tire and the driver, 36-year-old Eric Latrell Upshaw, lost control and ran off the road. Upshaw and his passenger, 40-year-old Randall Benton Cooper, both died at the scene.
VSP said the crash continues to be under investigation.
