PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WVEC) -- Michael Massie, a well-known attorney in Portsmouth, is expected to go before the Virginia State Bar's disciplinary board to answer misconduct charges in five traffic accident cases he settled.

Massie is representing Mayor Kenny Wright is his felony eluding case after the mayor led the Portsmouth sheriff on a brief chase over an expired inspection sticker.

In the past several years, five people complained that Massie settled their cases without their approval. That's according to documents filed with the bar.

No hearings have yet been scheduled for Massie, but according to the Virginian-Pilot, a bar subcommittee reviewed the evidence on Jan. 11 and certified the five complaints to the disciplinary board.
