PORTSMOUTH, Va. — Firefighters were able to contain a large fire that tore through the roof of a Portsmouth home early Saturday morning.
Fire crews were called to a home on Long Point Boulevard at 2:45 a.m. Crews searched the entire second floor and most of the first floor before the volume of the fire forced them to exit.
Other crews were called in to help. The firefighters were able to contain the flames in about 20 minutes using multiple hose lines.
No one was injured and investigators say the cause was accidental.
An occupant was reported missing from the home, but officials later confirmed that the occupant just wasn't home at the time.
No other details have been released at this time.
