NASSAWADOX, Va. — All lanes on Route 13 on Virginia's Eastern Shore have reopened after being closed for hours Thursday night, the Virginia Department of Transportation said.
According to Virginia State Police, around 11:44 p.m. in the area of Nassawadox, a Freightliner Cascadia going south ran off the road, flipped over, and spilled processed chicken across the southbound lanes. The driver was taken to the Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The northbound and southbound lanes were closed for cleanup. All lanes were back open by 10 a.m. Friday, VDOT said.
Investigators said the truck is owned by Mountaire Farms and was reportedly driving from Maryland, hauling processed chicken.
The crash is currently under investigation, but Virginia State Police said alcohol was not a factor that caused the accident.
