VP Kamala Harris visits Greensboro, North Carolina

Mayor Nancy Vaughan, Shirley Frye, and others also spoke at the event.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Vice President Kamala Harris came to North Carolina this week. 

She delivered remarks at Dudley High School Thursday afternoon along with Mayor Nancy Vaughan, Shirley T. Frye, and Governor Roy Cooper. 

The Biden-Harris administration said 700 people packed Dudley High School's gym.

Many people here also expressed the importance of having their voices heard by voting in November.  Vice President Harris echoed that by encouraging everyone to cast their ballot. 

"We have a duty to serve in the fight for freedom, opportunity and justice for all, and it is in that sense of duty which guides us here today in this very moment," Harris said. 

The vice president spoke about the Biden-Harris administration continuing nationwide health care efforts through the affordable care act. She also touched on topics including: national security, and gun safety.

Two students from the high school were chosen to introduced the vice president. One of them told us this November will be his first time voting in an election.    

The visit comes after President Joe Biden visited the state on June 28 - the day after the debate with former president Donald Trump. 

On Monday, First Lady Jill Biden will be campaigning in Wilmington. She's speaking to military families and veterans. 

The Biden campaign has visited North Carolina multiple times this campaign season, hoping to turn the battleground state blue in November.
