Three rehabilitated sea turtles released in North Carolina

The green sea turtles, Pomona Sprout, Kingsley Shacklebolt, and Fawkes were rehabilitated and got to return to the ocean.

DARE COUNTY, N.C. — The North Carolina Aquarium on Roanoke Island released three sea turtles on Tuesday.

The green sea turtles, Pomona Sprout, Kingsley Shacklebolt, and Fawkes were rehabilitated and got to return to the ocean.

They were released on Coquina Beach Tuesday at 8:30 a.m.

The Aquarium thanked their partners the Cape Hatteras National Seashore, North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission and N.E.S.T. (Network for Endangered Sea Turtles) for working with them on the release.

The turtles were at the Sea Turtle Assistance and Rehabilitation (STAR) Center since February. All of them were juveniles, and they were about seven pounds when they were released.
