Woman continues search for sister, 6 months after reported missing

Shannon Anderson was reported missing roughly six months ago out of Edenton, North Carolina. Now, Shannon's sister has expanded her search to Hampton Roads.

EDENTON, N.C. — At a busy intersection near Downtown Norfolk, a missing person sign caught the attention of our 13News Now crew.

The sign at the corner of Brambleton Avenue and Boush Street reads: "Missing. Shannon Dionne Anderson. Call your local law enforcement office with info."

After some digging, 13News Now learned Shannon Anderson was reported missing roughly six months ago out of Edenton, North Carolina.

Friday, Shannon's sister, Jody Anderson, shared what she knows.

Jody said Shannon is very close to her family; however, she said her sister had been acting distant prior to her disappearance.

“I think she was just re-evaluating her life some," Jody explained.

Jody said she had called in a wellness check for her sister the week before her disappearance. She said an officer went to Shannon's home, and that Shannon told the officer she would call Jody to let her know she was alright.

But Jody never got that call.

Edenton police say Shannon was last seen on April 24.

According to Jody,  Shannon was driving in a rural area of Camden County that day, asking neighbors for directions to Norfolk. Jody said four days later, one of those neighbors reported Shannon’s abandoned car to police.

“I think she got turned around…I don’t know after that," Jody said. "I do believe she's still with us. I honestly feel that."

Jody said she’s still trying to make sense of the situation.

She said authorities conducted two in-depth searches in North Carolina, but to no avail.

“…Search and rescue dogs, they’ve done cadaver dogs, they've had people in boats,” Jody explained.

Still, all these months later, Jody said she still hasn’t given up hope.

She had this message for her sister:

“Shannon, please contact us. Please. We’re worried about you and we miss you very much.”

An Edenton Town spokesperson said according to the the Edenton Police Chief, there are currently no new leads in the case.

Anyone who may have seen Shannon is asked to call Edenton Police at 252-482-5144.
