COROLLA, N.C. — Corolla Wild Horse Fund staff located the wild horse hit by a vehicle on the beach Friday night.
In a Facebook post on Sunday, staff said the stallion has "no visible wounds" and is "behaving normally."
"We will continue to keep a very close eye on him in case there’s anything going on internally, but for now we are so very relieved to see him," the post said.
"We will also continue to monitor the other stallion, but based on the reports we’ve gotten over the past 12 hours we are relatively certain it was this guy who was struck."
A vehicle hit the wild horse around 9 p.m., according to a post on Corolla Wild Horse Fund's Facebook Page.
The impact damaged the vehicle, but the horse ran away.
"This was truly an accident and speed was not a factor. The driver did the right thing by calling 911 and then waiting on the scene until help arrived."
