KILL DEVIL HILLS, NC (WVEC) -- A new supermarket is opening on the Outer Banks.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held Wednesday morning at the new Publix, located next to Lowe's on Croatan Highway in Kill Devil Hills.

The grocery store employs about 130 people.

Regular hours will be from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.

The first Publix opened in 1930 in Florida and the company has grown to more than 1,000 stores across the Southeast. Publix currently operates eight stores in the Richmond area and is building an additional location in Williamsburg, its first in Hampton Roads.
