Police: 13-year-old crashes golf cart in Duck, injures one

In North Carolina, you must be at least 16 and have a driver's license to drive a golf cart.

DUCK, N.C. — A woman was hurt in a golf cart crash in Duck, North Carolina, and police say a 13-year-old was behind the wheel at the time of the accident.

The Duck Police Department said the crash happened around 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. The driver was allegedly trying to turn at the intersection of Christopher Drive and Ocean Front Way, but veered off the pavement and into a rut in the grass.

A 22-year-old woman was taken to the hospital and is expected to survive. A 21-year-old Florida man was charged with a misdemeanor after telling police he allowed the teen to drive.

In North Carolina, you must be at least 16 and have a driver's license to drive a golf cart.
