HATTERAS, N.C. (AP) - Dredging is scheduled to begin next week on part of the channel used for the ferry route between Hatteras and Ocracoke islands that was affected by Hurricane Matthew.
State transportation department officials said in an email Thursday that the dredging will begin Monday.
Officials said the work may cause service interruptions over the next two weeks. They recommend that passengers stay updated on the schedule either by checking the Ferry Division's twitter feed or by calling the Hatteras terminal at 252-986-2353 or the Ocracoke terminal at 252-928-1665.
