MANTEO, N.C. — Two men in Dare County have been arrested after an assault resulted in a search warrant in which cocaine was found, deputies said.
The Dare County Sheriff's Office said deputies responded to an "assault in progress" in the Scarborough Square Trailer Park in Manteo on Sunday around 8:15 p.m. When they arrived they saw a bag of "crack cocaine" fall out of the victims' pocket during an interview.
They obtained a search warrant for the home and found an "unknown substance" and more cocaine which were seized.
31-year-old Connor Sadler and 27-year-old Daniel Matthews, both from Manteo, were arrested and charged with felony possession of cocaine and felony maintaining a dwelling for a controlled substance. Sadler was also charged with simple assault.
Sadler received a $34,000 secured bond and Matthews received a $30,000 secured bond.
More charges will be filed if it is determined that the other substance found was a controlled substance.
Dare County Sheriff's Office Narcotics Division and Manteo Police Department assisted in the investigation.
