The Corolla Wild Horse Fund announced the arrival of the fourth foal so far in 2024 — Elvis.

COROLLA, N.C. — The wild horses of Corolla have welcomed a new addition to the family — a colt named Elvis!

In a Facebook post last week, the Corolla Wild Horse Fund announced Alma welcomed her first foal. The nonprofit said Elvis was likely born either on Sunday, May 5, or on Monday, May 6.

Elvis' arrival comes following Alma's journey to find a herd or harem after being left out of one at age two.

"We are so glad that we did not intervene and remove Alma from the wild when she was struggling to find her place in the herd," the Facebook post reads. "It was difficult for people to watch, but we knew that in the grand scheme of things she was safe and just needed a little more time to mature and figure things out. These situations are often beyond the scope of our control and sometimes you just have to trust that nature will work out like it should, one way or the other. In this case, it seems to have worked out for the best and we are very excited to welcome Alma’s first foal to the herd."

Elvis is the most recent foal born on Corolla. So far this year, according to the Corolla Wild Horse Fund, there have been four foals born — Eros, Eowyn, Ezra and now Elvis.

Elvis and Alma are part of the harem Eowyn belongs to.

The nonprofit reminds beachgoers to allow at least 50 feet of space between them and the horses — especially with new foals.

"Always err on the side of caution and help us make sure Elvis, Eowyn, Ezra, and Eros have a long, bright, WILD future ahead of them!"
