Ongoing search for suspect in Ahoskie double shooting

20-year-old Maurice Baum Jr. is considered armed and dangerous, according to the Ahoskie Police Department.

AHOSKIE, N.C. — The Ahoskie Police Department is requesting assistance in locating a suspect in a double shooting Wednesday night.

Police responded to reports of a shooting on the 300 block of West Church Street around 6:30 p.m.

When officers arrived to the scene, they found two victims with gunshot wounds. One victim was treated and released from ECU Health Roanoke Chowan Hospital. The other victim remains in recovery at Norfolk General Hospital as of Friday morning.

Officers said they were able to name 20-year-old Maurice Baum Jr. of Elizabeth City as a suspect and obtained warrants for his arrest.

Baum is charged with felony breaking and entering with intent to terrorize and two counts of attempted first degree murder.
