One killed, 2 hurt in shooting outside restaurant in Ahoskie

AHOSKIE, N.C. (WVEC) -- A person died and two other people were hurt after a shooting that took place early Monday morning outside McDonald's on East Memorial Drive.

Emergency dispatchers received a call about the incident at 2:49 a.m.

When police got there, they found 29-year-old Keon Tyvelle Harrell who had been shot. He died there.

Two other people who had been shot showed up at the emergency room of Vidant Roanoke-Chowan Hospital.

Medics took them to another hospital.

There was no word on their conditions.

Deputies from the Hertford County Sheriff's Office helped the Ahoskie Police Department.

The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigations provided a crime scene investigator to assist officers.

Ahoskie Police Chief Troy Fitzhugh said in a a news release, "We are following up on the investigation at this time, and we are aggressively working this case."
