New push to remove Trump from NC ballot

Someone appealed the state board of election's decision to dismiss an initial complaint.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Former President Donald Trump is appealing Maine's decision to ban him from the state's ballot.

The secretary of state there said Trump is disqualified under the constitution's insurrection clause.

His legal team says the secretary of state does not have the authority to make that move. Trump's eligibility for the presidency has been challenged in more than two dozen states for his actions on January 6th.

There is a new push to get Trump off the ballot in North Carolina. Someone appealed the state board of election's decision to dismiss an initial complaint.

The board said it doesn't have the authority to rule on whether Trump is eligible to go on the ballot.

The appeal asks a Wake County judge to determine if the state can intervene.
