ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. (WVEC) -- A man was arrested on Tuesday after shooting his father during a family dispute in Pasquotank County, N.C., deputies confirmed.
Deonte Stokley shot his father in the groin area shortly after 2 p.m. April 14 afternoon in the 600 block of Crocker Run Road.
The father, Johnnie Johnson III, was airlifted to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in what officials describe as “stable condition." On Monday, he remained hospitalized.
Stokley left the scene by the time deputies arrived.
Stokley was charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, felony possession of a firearm by convicted felon and discharge a weapon in an occupied dwelling.
A second suspect was also charged in the shooting. Racquel Gibbs has been arrested and charged with felony aid and abet. She was arrested in Greenville, N.C., and was released after posting a $25,000 secured bond.
Stokley was taken into custody by the Greenville Police Department Violent Crime Apprehension Team and the NC BSI Fugative and Missing Person Task Force.
He is currently being held on a $500,000 bond.
