CAMDEN COUNTY, N.C. — A search is ongoing for a missing teen who may be in the Dismal Swamp State Park, according to law enforcement.
Pasquotank-Camden Emergency Management and the Camden County Sheriff's Office are searching for Elijah Henderson, 16, of Camden County. He left his home on Mill Run Loop overnight on foot and was reported to be likely on a nature walk, which is not unusual for him. However, it is unusual for him to stay out so long and to miss school.
He was last seen about 10 a.m. Monday morning walking a trail at the state park. He was wearing a brown flannel shirt with burgundy undershirt, blue jeans, a white stocking hat with black stripes, and black Converse shoes and carrying a black backpack.
Henderson is 5 feet, 9 inches tall with shoulder-length brown hair and a thin build.
Multiple agencies are conducting the search. Anyone with information is asked to contact Camden County Sheriff’s Office at 252-338-5046 or Pasquotank-Camden Central Communications at 252-331-1500.
