DARE COUNTY, N.C. — A man has been arrested on drug charges Sunday evening, the Dare County Sheriff's Office said.

28-year-old Kyle Laviana of Connecticut was arrested and charged with felony possession of a Schedule I controlled substance after he was pulled over in Dare County.

Sunday, around 5:45 p.m., police pulled Laviana over on Highway 64 just west of the Midway Intersection for speeding in a work zone. Following the alert, officers searched Laviana's vehicle and recovered psilocybin mushrooms, marijuana, and related paraphernalia.

In addition to the felony drug charge, Laviana was also cited for speeding and possession of marijuana and paraphernalia.
