PASQUOTANK COUNTY, N.C. — A man was arrested in Elizabeth City after a high-speed police pursuit turned into a drug seizure last week, the Pasquotank County Sheriff's Office has confirmed.
Deputies said they initiated a stop on Ehringhaus Street last Friday for a fake registration and a window tint violation. The driver of the vehicle, Tavien Miles, fled, reaching speeds of 60 miles per hour down side streets.
The pursuit was terminated, but the vehicle was later located by deputies on Griffin Street. Miles was located on Colonial Avenue and taken into custody without incident, the sheriff's office said.
During the investigation, deputies discovered that Miles was on pre-trial release related to another vehicle pursuit in October. It involved Camden County Sheriff's Office, Pasquotank County Sheriff's Office and North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
Deputies also discovered and seized 21 grams of cocaine from Miles during the investigation.
Miles is currently in custody at the Albemarle District Jail, and faces the following charges: felony fleeing to elude arrest, failure to head light or siren, reckless driving to endanger, possession with intent to sell/deliver cocaine and driving while license revoked.
