ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. — Elizabeth City firefighters saved a teen from cardiac arrest.
On April 14, the Elizabeth City Fire Department responded to an emergency call around 8:32 p.m. requesting help for an 18-year-old teen boy suffering from cardiac arrest.
According to officials, firefighters arrived and found the teen pulseless and apneic. While waiting for EMS, the fighter fighters provided CPR and two defibrillations with an Automated External Defibrillator.
The teen was successfully resuscitated. He was diagnosed with a pre-existing cardiac condition.
He has made a full recovery. Less than two weeks after the incident, he placed first in a Track & Field competition.
