Man found dead after apparent hit and run in Perquimans County

A man was found dead in the roadway on Grubb Street near Don Juan Road, on the outskirts of Hertford. The accident may have happened Sunday night or Monday morning.

HERTFORD, N.C. — The North Carolina Highway Patrol (NCHP) is asking for the public's help to find the person responsible for a deadly hit-and-run crash in Perquimans County.

According to the NCHP, a man was found dead in the roadway around 6:15 a.m. Monday on Grubb Street, near Don Juan Road on the outskirts of Hertford. NCHP has not publicly identified the man at this time.

Troopers said the victim was last seen alive in the area around 9 p.m. Sunday, so the crash is thought to have happened between 9 p.m. Sunday and 6:15 a.m. Monday. 

NCHP would like any witnesses who may have seen something in the overnight hours to come forward.
