VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Five people, including two children, are without a home after a fire tore through their building on Warwick Drive authorities say.
The Virginia Beach Fire Department confirmed the fire broke out just before 10:30 p.m. Friday at a two-story residence in the 1200 block of Warwick Drive.
There was heavy smoke reported and flames observed coming from the home. The fire wasn’t put out until after 11 p.m.
The smoke alarm alerted residents to the fire although the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
One person was treated for smoke inhalation at the scene. No other injuries were reported.
Red Cross is currently assisting those displaced.
