Virginia Beach woman wins Powerball, $2M prize

A woman from Virginia Beach's ticket matched the first five winning numbers and missed only the Powerball number.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — A Virginia Beach woman won $2,000,000 from the Powerball!

Michelle Teets purchased her winning lottery numbers for the February 16 drawing from the Miller Mart on Independence Boulevard in Virginia Beach.

Her ticket matched the first five winning numbers and missed only the Powerball number. Normally that would win $1 million, but Teets spent an extra buck for Power Play when she bought her ticket. That increased her prize to $2 million.

The odds of matching all six numbers to win the jackpot are 1 in 292.2 million. The overall odds of winning any Powerball prize are 1 in 25.

“I can’t believe it!” she said as she claimed her prize. “It’s super-hard to process!”

The winning numbers for that drawing were 29-30-41-48-64, and the Powerball number was 1.  She used Easy Pick which had the computer randomly select her numbers.

Teets, who works in the construction industry, said she has no immediate plans for her winnings.

Powerball drawings are held at 10:59 p.m. Wednesdays and Saturdays on 13News Now.
