17-year-old shot near Tallwood Apartments in Virginia Beach dies from his injuries

Police said the victim was a 17-year-old boy from Chesapeake.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — A teenager who was shot Monday night has died from his injuries, Virginia Beach police said.

Officials were alerted to the shooting around 9 p.m. in the 5700 block of Schoolhouse Road. That's near the Tallwood Apartments and the intersection with Kempsville Road. 

Officers arrived to find a 17-year-old boy from Chesapeake suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition. He later succumbed to his injuries.

There's no word at this time on what may have led to the shooting, or if any suspects have been identified.
