VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — A former Virginia Beach police officer pleaded guilty Wednesday morning for 11 felony charges related to child sex crimes.

Kyle LaLonde, 31, appeared in Virginia Beach Circuit Court and entered a guilty plea for the following charges:

  • Attempt Indecent Liberties
  • Propose Sex Act by Communication System <15 years, offender 7+ years
  • Solicitation to Commit Carnal Knowledge
  • Possess Child Porn (1st)
  • Possess Child Porn (2nd) (3 counts)
  • Possess Bestiality Image (4 counts)

The Virginia Beach Commonwealth's Attorney's office said that two other charges were nolle prossed, as part of a plea agreement: attempt indecent liberties and entice minor to perform in child porn. That means the charges are withdrawn for now, but can be brought back if terms of the plea agreement are not met.

Most of the alleged crimes date back to September and October of 2023.

According to the court documents, Lalonde created a KIK messaging account and was messaging with an undercover FBI agent, who was posing as a 12-year-old girl. Lalonde sent several sexually explicit messages, asking for sexual acts and sent pornography to the undercover agent. Police executed a search warrant on the IP address used for the account and it was traced back to LaLonde.

The court documents also go on to say that a search warrant on all LaLonde's electronic devices revealed he had child sexual assault material, along with several videos and pictures depicting bestiality.

The Virginia Beach Police Department confirmed Lalonde's arrest back in March and said he had been "relieved of his police powers." However, he did not officially resign from VBPD until August.

LaLonde worked for the Virginia Beach Police Department for three years, according to court documents. A VBPD spokesperson said he served as a patrol officer while on the force.

LaLonde will return to court in January for a sentencing hearing.
