VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — The Virginia Beach Health Department issued a swimming advisory for a large part of the Oceanfront Wednesday afternoon due to water quality issues. The swim advisory has now been lifted as retested results show bacteria levels meet State Water Quality Standards.
The advisory covered the area from 8th Street to Aqua Lane by Croatan Beach. It means swimming and wading aren't allowed, and signs will be posted in affected areas.
According to city officials, recent testing by the Health Department shows that bacteria levels didn't meet state water quality standards.
