VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — A man was charged with sexually assaulting his former employee, the Virginia Beach Office of the Commonwealth's Attorney said.
This conviction comes after Benjamin Lois Young, 44, was found guilty of forcible sodomy and object sexual penetration.
On Aug. 16, 2022, Young told his 19-year-old former employee she could come to Hybrid Air to pick up her last check after firing her due to the company's financial troubles. Before she arrived, he picked up her check from reception and brought it to his office.
According to officials, Young brought her to his office when she arrived. He made small talk and then asked to massage her leg. After massaging her, he sexually assaulted her. She tried to leave his office but the door was locked using a key code. Young blocked the door and told her “we should keep this between us” before opening the door.
Once she left she called and told her friend, her mother and her stepfather who is a police officer about the assault. She also reported it to the Virginia Beach Detective Bureau and had a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner exam. The samples taken from her body and submitted to the Department of Forensic Science for analysis matched Young's DNA.
Young will be sentenced on Sept. 16, 2024.
