VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WVEC) -- Virginia Beach is trying to make it easier for drivers to find their cars by color coding the parking garages in Town Center.
The city now has a new naming and color system in place for all five municipal parking garages in the area. The colors can be found on the garage's entrance doors, elevator doors, and stairwells.
The new colors for each garage location are as follows:
- Blue garage – The Cosmopolitan Apartments
- Green garage – Armada Hoffler tower
- Red garage – The Westin Virginia Beach Town Center
- Orange garage – Clark Nexsen tower
- Maroon garage – Dick’s Sporting Goods
The garages even have LED lighted signs outside each garage entrance with the name and color to make it easier to see at night. The change was made because of citizen's feedback.
“We want to make visits to Town Center as enjoyable and easy as possible,” said parking manager for the City of Virginia Beach, Rob Fries in a press release. “These improvements also will assist emergency and roadside assistance personnel in locating someone more quickly in the event they are called.”
Additional improvements to the Town Center area of Virginia Beach are in the works. The projects should be completed in the coming months. The Parking Management Office and the Town Center property managers are working to add sidewalk and building signage throughout the area.
