VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Virginia Beach law enforcement and the community came together to discuss accomplishments from this year and goals for the future.
Virginia Beach Vice Mayor Rosemary Wilson hopes to bridge the gap between law enforcement and the general public. On Friday, Wilson hosted a community meeting for that very purpose.
"People are always interested in law enforcement and what's going around their city. We've been doing so many new things and we've got such a good story to tell that we need to make sure that our citizens know what's going on in their community," Wilson explained.
The meeting featured Police Chief Paul Neudigate and Sheriff Rocky Holcomb as guest speakers.
The event came after Virginia Beach renamed Building 2, the site of the Virginia Beach 2019 mass shooting, as Building 11, the new police headquarters. The city also saw a slight rise in its homicide rates in contrast to the rates across Hampton Roads which dropped slightly.
