Virginia Beach home partially destroyed after kitchen fire

The Virginia Beach Fire Department says they were dispatched to a fire in the 3000 block of Breslaw Court off Lynnhaven Parkway on Sunday just before 4 p.m.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — A townhouse in the Magic Hollow area of Virginia Beach caught fire Sunday afternoon, officials say.

The Virginia Beach Fire Department (VBFD) says they were dispatched to a fire in the 3000 block of Breslaw Court off of Lynnhaven Parkway just before 4:00 p.m.

When firefighters arrived just a few minutes later they found heavy smoke coming from a two-story townhouse. Everyone inside had evacuated.

No injuries to residents, firefighters, or pets were reported.

VBFD said the fire started in the kitchen due to cooking on an unattended stove. Officials want to remind the public to always be attentive when cooking. According to the National Fire Protection Association, from 2017-2021, ranges or cooktops accounted for over half of home cooking fire incidents.
