Virginia Beach Funk Fest Beach Party returns to the Oceanfront for its 15th year

The celebration features funk music, delicious food, and will host several vendors. It will take over 24th St on the beach August 23rd and 24th.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — The Virginia Beach Funk Fest Beach Party returns to the Oceanfront for its 15th year, bringing electrifying music, delicious food and a diverse array of vendors to 24th St Friday Aug. 23 and Saturday Aug. 24.

The lineup for the festival includes WAR, Doug E. Fresh and Crank Crusaders with Raheem Devaughn on Friday and SOS Band, One Way and Be'la Dona closing out the festival on Saturday.  

The gates open at 4 p.m. and shows start at 6 p.m. both Friday and Saturday. 

The festival, inspired by funk artists like James Brown and George Clinton, helps the influential genre continue to thrive. 

Spokesperson and producer of the event, Ike Owens, sat down with 13News Now to share what makes this festival so special and why people should come out.
