Murder suspect arrested for man's death near College Park Blvd. section of Virginia Beach

Officers found a man dead inside a home on Forest Lake Drive. A 22-year-old man was arrested for his murder.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — On Friday, Virginia Beach police arrested a man accused of murdering someone near the College Park Boulevard area.

Shortly before 5 p.m. Thursday, officers found a man dead inside a home in the 900 block of Forest Lake Drive.

Police initially called the victim's death "suspicious"  as they investigated the scene to determine what might have happened.

As they gathered more clues and information, investigators identified a potential suspect. This suspect also allegedly caused a hit-and-run crash and attempted malicious assault that took place at an earlier time on 26th Street and Arctic Avenue.

Four hours into the murder investigation, that person was taken into custody at the Oceanfront.

Ricardo Raul Perez, 22, was charged with murder, hit-and-run, and attempted malicious assault. He's being held at the Virginia Beach City Jail.

Authorities aren't releasing the name of the victim until his family has been notified. No other details have been released, including how the victim died.
