VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — The Virginia Beach Fire Department answered a call Monday evening for a fire in the 900 block of Gideon Road.
The property was a two-story home, and when crews arrived at 7:40 p.m., they could see heavy smoke coming from the structure. The residents had already evacuated the home with their two dogs.
The fire originated from the kitchen, the fire department determined, and it was marked out at 8:01 p.m. The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
The four residents will be staying with friends, the fire department said. In addition to their two dogs, the residents also have two cats. One cat was found alive, while the other one is still considered missing.
There were no other injuries reported.
