Driver charged after fleeing Virginia Beach crash that killed his two passengers

36-year-old Adam Cieniewicz is charged with felony hit and run, and police expect more charges to be filed.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — A man is in custody, one day after police said he fled the scene of a crash that killed his two passengers.

The Virginia Beach Police Department (VBPD) said officers were called to the intersection of Shipps Corner Road and Old Clubhouse Road shortly after 12:30 a.m. Wednesday for a report of a single-vehicle crash.

Officers arrived to find two men who had been pinned in the wreckage and were unresponsive. Both men, 32-year-old Francisco Bisono IV and 49-year-old Shawn Babonis, were pronounced dead at the scene. Police said the driver, later identified as 36-year-old Adam Cieniewicz, had fled.

Cieniewicz was apprehended on Thursday and charged with felony hit and run.
