Stolen, sick puppy 'Bam Bam' returned to Virginia Beach animal shelter

He's back home! Bam Bam, a very sick puppy that was stolen from Hope For Life Rescue center, was dropped off at a fire station.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — A sick puppy is back home at the Virginia Beach animal shelter where he was stolen on Friday night.

Hope For Life Rescue said in a Facebook post that Bam Bam was dropped off at a fire station in a box marked "Hope for Life Rescue."

The fire station immediately called Animal Control.

The center said it's grateful for the return of the sick puppy.

"This is nothing short of a miracle!" the post said.

"We are so grateful to everyone in our community and beyond who shared our post and to the news outlets that covered this story!"

Bam Bam was reunited with his siblings and is back on his treatment for parvo.

The puppy was one of many other dogs in an isolation room that were diagnosed with the highly contagious virus.

It causes an infectious gastrointestinal illness in puppies and young dogs, and without treatment, it is potentially deadly, according to the American Kennel Club website.

When he was stolen, Bam Bam was doing "very poorly," the center said. He still needed critical medical attention.

The animal shelter made pleas via its Facebook page for the public to help find the puppy.

The post had more than 8,000 shares and a reward of $400 was also offered.

Other TV outlets and Hampton Roads animal groups shared the post to help find Bam Bam.

"There are just no words to describe how we all feel right now." the center said.
