Virginia Aquarium's 'Protect Sea Life' license plate pass Virginia General Assembly

The Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Center's license plate passed the General Assembly, which means they will be seen on cars across the Commonwealth!

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — The Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Center's license plate passed the General Assembly!

The 'Protect Sea Life' plate features an image of an endangered loggerhead sea turtle. Proceeds from the sale of the plates will help support the Virginia Aquarium’s conservation and research programs, including our state-wide marine animal Stranding Response Program

The Aquarium's Stranding Response Program recovers and provides medical care and rehabilitation for stranded marine mammals and sea turtles throughout the state of Virginia.

The design needed 450 pre-sold plates before it could be approved by the General Assembly.

Since it passed, anyone can pre-purchase a the license plate and get it before anyone else. The Aquarium will be accepting presales until April 1, 2019.

The new license plates cost $25 for a non-vanity plate or $35 for a vanity plate.
