VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — A bicyclist who was hit by a vehicle in Virginia Beach on Tuesday evening has died, police tell 13News Now.
The crash happened near the intersection of Princess Anne Road and Lynnhaven Parkway shortly before 6:45 p.m., according to the Virginia Beach Police Department (VBPD).
Based on a preliminary investigation, police said a car was traveling eastbound on Princess Anne Road when it hit the bicyclist, who was crossing Princess Anne Road. The bicyclist, 23-year-old James Beckles IV, died at the scene.
VBPD's Traffic Safety Unit is handling the investigation. Detectives ask that anyone who may have seen the accident or have information about it call the Traffic Safety Unity at 757-385-4606 or submit a tip on the P3Tips app.
