Teen charged in Elson Green Avenue homicide arraigned

Jacob Meadows, the teen charged in the homicide of 17-year-old Chris Ross, was arraigned Friday morning.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WVEC) — Jacob Meadows was arraigned for second-degree murder Friday morning.

The 19-year-old was arrested Thursday in connection with the homicide of 17-year-old Chris Ross. Ross's family confirmed his identity with 13News Now.

The judge told him that he faces two felony charges, second-degree murder and the use of a firearm. Meadows reported that he would hire his own lawyer.

Meadows's next court date is scheduled for December 21.

The Virginia Beach City Public Schools Director of Communications confirmed that Meadows was a 2017 graduate from Kellam High School.

Meadows was one of four teens arrested in connection with the homicide in the 2700 block of Elson Green Avenue near Sandbridge in Red Mill on Tuesday. He is also charged with Use of a Firearm, two counts of Conspiracy to Violate the Drug Act, three counts of Distribution of Marijuana and Possession of Marijuana within a School Zone.

There was an early request for bond, but that has since been withdrawn.

The bond hearing was scheduled for the drug charges.
