VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Virginia Beach Sheriff Rocky Holcomb has won reelection, according to unofficial results from the Virginia Department of Elections.
As of Wednesday afternoon, Holcomb garnered 72% of the vote compared to 26% for challenger Aldo Dibelardino. Provisional ballots have yet to be counted and results are considered unofficial until the race is certified.
Holcomb was the incumbent seeking his first election after filling the unexpired term created when former Sheriff Ken Stolle retired in 2023. Holcomb began his law enforcement career as a deputy sheriff recruit and has served on the City Council and Virginia General Assembly.
During his campaign, Holcomb emphasized the need to help incarcerated Virginians reacclimate to normal life upon their release.
On his Facebook page Wednesday morning, Holcomb posted a statement thanking voters for their support.
"Together we will continue to make Virginia Beach a safe, inclusive community, and I will work every day to earn and keep your trust," he wrote.
