Shooting at Virginia Beach sports bar leads to Norfolk suspect's arrest

Virginia Beach police say that 30-year-old Derrius Williams of Norfolk was arrested on Friday after investigations led the police to identify him as the suspect.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — A man was arrested on Friday in connection to a shooting in late December at Virginia Beach sports bar and club.

Virginia Beach police say that 30-year-old Derrius Williams of Norfolk was arrested on Friday after investigations led the Detective Bureau to identify him as the suspect in a shooting in late December.

The Warrant Fugitive Unit apprehended Williams. He is charged with malicious wounding, discharging a firearm inside a building and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. 

On December 31 around 1:05 a.m., dispatch received calls reporting shots fired inside Parlays 2 in the 5000th block of Princess Anne Road. Offices responded and didn't find victims on the premises, but soon after a hospital nearby received a walk-in gunshot wound victim connected to the incident. 

Investigations showed the shooting happened after a physical altercation broke out in the club. 

Parlays 2 announced its permanent closure on January 12.
