VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Monster Trucks took over the beach this weekend.
With a race and stunt course built into the sand on the Oceanfront from 6th to 8th streets, attendees were able to watch from the bleachers as the monster trucks kicked up sand, according to the event organizers, Pungo Offroad Monsters on the Beach.
"Maximus" competed for the first time at the event and "Virginia Giant" competed for the first time in more than 15 years, according to a press release from the organizers.
Ten monster trucks in all battled for honors and points on the sand. The winner received the George Carpenter Cup and the title “King of the Beach.”
Spectators were also able to become a monster truck driver for just $15.
