Missing Virginia Beach woman found dead offshore, police say

According to a spokesperson for the Virginia Beach Police Department, Carina Leach's body was a few miles offshore in the water south of Rudee Inlet.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — A Virginia Beach woman who went missing in February was found dead offshore on Wednesday, police said.

According to a spokesperson for the Virginia Beach Police Department, Carina Leach's body was located a few miles offshore in the water south of Rudee Inlet. Her cause of death is still being determined.

Police say Leach was last seen when she got off work at W.T. Cooke Elementary School on the afternoon of Feb. 13. Two hours later, she spoke to a family member on the phone, but no one had heard from her since.

According to previous 13News Now coverage, Leach has a husband and teenage son, and lived near the Resort area of the Oceanfront.

When announcing their search, the Virginia Beach Police Department Leach's family and friends were "concerned for her wellbeing." A review of surveillance footage and a search of the Oceanfront area didn't turn up any leads.
