Massage parlor in Virginia Beach under investigation for human trafficking

Police raided a massage parlor in the Kempsville area that is at the center of a human trafficking investigation.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — A pretty quiet morning at a shopping center in Kempsville quickly turned into a crime scene after police raided a massage parlor that was an alleged hub for sex trafficking.

The parlor is located in the 5200 block of Princess Anne Road.

Teams made up of both Homeland Security Investigations and Virginia Beach Police worked together to put this effort together.

Investigators told 13News Now the point of the raid was to identify, stop and deter human trafficking in the area while identifying potential victims.

Tiffany, a woman who didn’t want to be fully identified, works at a shop near the parlor. She said she saw everything happen.

“It was about nine o’clock and there was only about one identifiable police vehicle out front of the shopping center. We saw undercover police come and go but they were discreet and took everybody around back,” said Tiffany.

But Tiffany said that she was not surprised the raid occurred.

“I don’t think I was surprised to see it because I think we all knew there was something going on there for a while,” said Tiffany. “Men coming and going, you never see the ladies leave, you never see them come into work. I believe they were living there. You never see them come out at all.”

13News Now is working to learn more about the incident.
