VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WVEC) -- Police said Friday that a man who was hurt in a shooting near the Virginia Beach-Norfolk city line on May 8 is charged with Murder.
Officers said Richard Jerome Gregory, Jr., 24, of the 1100 block of Clydesdale Lane killed 29-year-old Erica Alford.
Medics took Gregory, who was injured during the incident, to the hospital.
Virginia Beach officers said someone flagged down a Norfolk police officer May 8 and said there was a shooting victim on Newtown Arch.
Norfolk police found Gregory and Alford in the 5800 block of Newtown Arch.
Diamond Cox said she was on her way home from school when saw someone lying in a pool of blood.
"It was, like, shocking, like, I heard about bodies like that, but I ain't ever seen one," said Cox. "I mean this is always happening out in Mayfair, it's nothing new."
Cox told 13News Now she is worried about her family.
"We really got to get out of here," said Cox. "My nieces play at the park every day out here, and I’ll be at the house chillin' and I won't be paying no attention to them so anything could happen."
