VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WVEC) -- A man is in the hospital after falling six stories from a Virginia Beach hotel.
A spokesperson with Emergency Services confirmed the incident happened Saturday around 10:30 p.m. at the Oceanfront Inn on Atlantic Ave. First responders found a young man suffering from serious, life-threatening injuries. Witnesses told them he fell from the 6th floor balcony onto the boardwalk.
“Maybe the bushes broke his fall or something, but he’s lucky. Whatever the circumstance was, he’s lucky,” Gyja Fredericksen said.
Virginia Beach Police were not available Monday to tell 13News Now how this happened. The Oceanfront Inn acknowledged there was an incident involving one of their guests, but deferred all questions to police. A manager provided us with this statement:
“Late Saturday night, April 9, 2016, there was an incident that involved a guest of the Hotel. There is an ongoing investigation and we have been working with the Virginia Beach Police to get all the details of what happened that night. Out of respect to the family of the individual involved and since this is an ongoing investigation, we cannot comment at this time. Our thoughts and prayers go out to those involved.”
“Hopefully it was an accident and that it wasn’t that somebody pushed him,” John Davidson said.
