Two people face charges after drug deal leads to shooting, Virginia Beach police say

The shooting happened earlier in November in Virginia Beach's Lineberry Park.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Two men are facing charges connected to a shooting at Lineberry Park in Virginia Beach earlier this month.

The Virginia Beach Police Department said the shooting happened around 6:15 p.m. on November 9. Police responded to the scene for a report of shots fired, but found no victims or suspects.

But a short time later, police said a 41-year-old man showed up to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators were able to figure out that the shooting happened over a drug deal involving marijuana.

On Tuesday, police arrested 23-year-old Shyriq Parham of Newport News and 26-year-old Shaquille Pugh of Virginia Beach. Both are facing charges of aggravated malicious wounding, shooting in the commission of a felony, attempted robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, and two counts of the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.  Parham is also charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
