VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — A group of Hampton Roads residents are gassing up and taking a motorcycle ride this weekend in honor of a child who was shot in his head in Virginia Beach.
A stray bullet shot 8-year-old Landyn Davis while he was playing video games inside his Peele Court home on the evening of Feb. 13. Landyn was placed in a medically induced coma for several days, but his parents say he is now making strides on a long road to recovery.
The community is coming together to raise money for Landyn and his family for whom medical bills are piling up.
Event organizers say they are personal friends of Landyn and his family and were devasted when they heard the news. They said Landyn's favorite activity was riding motorcycles with his dad.
Because of that connection, they decided to organize "Lanydn's Ride," which is taking place at Harpoon Larry's Oyster Bar and the Baja Cantina on 24th Street, starting at noon Saturday. The event will have live music from Buckshot Littkeys, a raffle, a silent auction, food and drink specials, and motorcycle riding.
Those who can't come out can still donate to the cause or purchase an event T-shirt. 100% of the profits from the event will go straight to Landyn's family.
