VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — A juvenile is in critical condition after being shot in Virginia Beach Tuesday evening, authorities confirmed.
Shortly after 6:15 p.m., officers responded to a report of gunfire on Peele Court near Old Clubhouse Road. At the scene, Virginia Beach police said they found a victim, who is under the age of 18, shot.
The victim was rushed to a hospital with serious injuries, police said. Police updated Wednesday morning that the victim is still in critical condition.
13News Now spoke to Freddie Tuggle, a neighbor whose home was struck by the gunfire. He said he was on the second floor of his home when he heard the shots ring out.
“I saw the holes had come through right above the couch and right through the window," Tuggle explained.
Tuggle several bullets struck the side of his home. One of those bullets went straight through his front window.
"It doesn’t make any sense. Why would you shoot up somebody’s house that you don’t know, they don’t know you?”
Tuggle said he knows the injured child. He hopes investigators catch whoever did this.
“He’s a good kid, happy kid, running playing all the time. I just have no idea why somebody would be shooting at the kid," Tuggle said.
