Hundreds line up for House of Maya bridal inventory liquidation sale

Friday marked the start of the House of Maya liquidation sale.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WVEC) -- Friday marked the start of the House of Maya liquidation sale.

The entire lot was auctioned off last month after the business defaulted on a loan.

Virginia Beach developer Anthony Cataldo purchased the name of House of Maya and all of its inventory, which includes 2,500 bridal gowns, bridesmaid dresses, and jewelry.

With plans to open his own bridal shop, he decided to clear out his inventory and host a liquidation sale.

"We'd rather just go ahead and give everyone a great deal this year, and we will be pulling in new inventory in the new shop," he said.

Cataldo is now in the process of looking for a location in Norfolk for his new store.

"The House of Maya Bridal will become The House of Molly Bridal. That will be the new name for the bridal salon in Norfolk," he said.

The sale is happening at the Virginia Beach Convention Center through October 30. Additional discounts are offered for all military personnel, first responders, medical professionals and school teachers. You need to show proof of occupation.
